Welcome Greyhounds! We are back! There’s been a flood of Ted Lasso content across the internet these past couple of weeks, our lives have been bonkers, and the world has been…yikes. Hopefully you’ll find something in this edition of the newsletter to put some pep in your step as you get you up-to-date with what we have going on, and some things you may have missed. We see a LOT of Ted Lasso (and Ted Lasso-adjacent) content across the internet, and we are excited to share some of that with you.
Updates from the Dogtrack
Season 2 is cruising along. It’s hard to believe we have almost reached the halfway mark.
We updated our website so that it is more user and mobile friendly. Part of the streamlining is that other than show notes, we are moving all of our written content over to our Patron. Almost everything on Patreon will be free, the only exceptions being the special episode and long form essay we release each month for our Patreon supporters.
Did you catch our interview with Tom Hendryk, the actor who plays AFC Richmond goalkeeper O'Brien on Ted Lasso? He gives us some insight into the torn butt scene from Season 1, shares about what it’s like to be a supporter of a football club in England, and gives us a window into his interests and talents.
Over on Patreon we have A Ted Lasso Fan’s Guide to Picking an English Premier League Team, and we turned our Ted Lasso’s Fly Footwear twitter thread into a blog post that’s easier to read and scroll. And we’ve noticed at least two Frank Sinatra references this season, so perhaps our explainer for the Gay Talese/Trent Crimm line from Season 1 would be of interest. Talese wrote the most famous profile of Sinatra, much to Franks chagrin.
Remember our friends at Three KC Clothing Co? It’s the company that makes the shirts Ted Lasso is so fond of sleeping in on the show. Well through the end of August they are offering 15% off orders from their website. Use the discount code “TILWEDIE” to look fly and save some money.
Congrats to Ronjan for winning our Patreon supporter giveaway this month! He is now the proud owner of a shirt from Three KC. Look out for details on our Sept giveaway soon!

Dad Joke Setup
How much did Santa pay for his sleigh?
(answer after Ted’s Touchline Tidbits so don’t peek until you’re ready)
Ted’s Touchline Tidbits
We are cool with the weekly episode release format, but Forbes makes the case that the show would be better as a binge.
The story on how Marcus Mumford and Tome Howe created the Ted Lasso theme song.
Jamie Gonna Jamie
The Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated Mexican Heritage Night and a sellout crowd of 53,114 was on hand to watch their beloved Dodgers defeat the Pirates. Before the game, Cristo Fernandez (who plays Dani Rojas), threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game. As you would expect, it was very, very joyful and Cristo’s hair was glorious.
Dad Joke Payoff
Nothing. It was on the house!
Musical Theater Moves
After the Christmas episode, we really got in the mood for some Broadway holiday music. The 2020 Tappy Christmas Special scratched that itch.
This week, Wicked Appointed a Director of Social Responsibility to Foster Inclusivity.
While Frank Sinatra never appeared on Broadway, he DID have an album of Broadway covers. Thank goodness we can justify putting him on our curated Ted Lasso’s Musical Theater Playlist! You can find what we have put together on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
Corner Kicks for the Soccer Curious
Lionel Messi is in the conversation for best soccer player of all time. After years at FC Barcelona, last week he moved to Paris Saint Germain in a move that reverberated throughout the sports world.
Most of the domestic European leagues are up and running for their new seasons as of today. As of now, fans are allowed to watch matches in person which has brought a nice buzz to the environment. Soon we will have a guide to watching international soccer in the US.
The news out of Afghanistan has been bleak. A couple of years ago, Nadia Nadim shared a first hand account of her family’s escape from the Taliban when her father was executed by the group in 2020. In addition to being a world-class soccer player (she currently plays for Racing Louisville FC), she speaks nine languages and has attended medical school with hopes of becoming a reconstructive surgeon when her playing days are over.
The Attacking Third (a podcast from CBS Sports focusing on women’s soccer) had a great interview with former Canadian international and current Head of Football Operations for CONCACAF (the soccer federation for North/Central America and The Carribean) Karina LeBlanc. They discussed Canada's Olympic Gold, the latest in Concacaf Women’s initiatives, the launch of the "We Belong" campaign and the 2023 World Cup qualifiers draw. Really great stuff for non-soccer fans in this episode.
Thanks for checking out our Newsletter! We always love to hear from folks so feel free to hit us up. Until next time, Cheers
Brett, Marisa and Christian
