Greetings, Greyhounds! Ted Lasso Season 2 is 2/3 of the way finished. Part of us can’t wait to see how it ends. The other part of us wants it to go on forever. Oh, the internal turmoil of it all. We love having you along as friends for the Journey of Big Feelings.
Updates from the Dogtrack
Ted Lasso was nominated for 20 Emmy Awards, and we will find out how many trophies they pick up on Sunday night. The 73rd Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on September 19 at 5 p.m. PT. You can also catch it streaming on Paramount+.
But did you know Ted Lasso already won 3 Emmy’s this past weekend! I KNOW! The show picked up wins for: Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) And Animation, Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Comedy Series – A.J. Catoline for “The Hope That Kills You”, and Outstanding Casting For A Comedy Series - Theo Park. Congrats!
Did you catch our interview with Coach Donnie Campbell, who was the primary inspiration for Ted Lasso? He was Jason Sudeikis’ basketball coach, and just happens to have grown up 8 miles down the road from us in Lyons, KS.
Congrats to Mike T. for winning our Patreon supporter giveaway this month! He is now the proud owner of a custom Ted Lasso print that he can hang in his home or office!
Christian has a piece up with Examples of Negative Punishment Parents Should Avoid over at Fatherly, Brett recently attended the Wild Goose Festival, and Marisa is currently busy with rehearsals for an October production of Newsies that she is stage directing. Busy, busy.
Dad Joke Setup
What do you get from a pampered cow?
(answer after Ted’s Touchline Tidbits so don’t peek until you’re ready)
Ted’s Touchline Tidbits
One of the latest internet controversies is that Roy Kent is actually CGI.
Ashley Nicole Black is new to the Ted Lasso writers room this year, and if you haven’t read up on her this is a great place to start. She’s also done work on A Black Lady Sketch Show for HBO, which is also up for Emmy Awards this weekend.
This is totes adorbs.
Hannah Waddingham posted a video of rehearsal for the Christmas episode over on her Instagram. It’s amazing. Her shoes are dope. And Jeremy Swift is killing it on the bass.
In a recent episode there was a joke about Wrexham United FC. It just so happens that Wrexham is owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. This set off a rather hilarious battle that ended amicably with Apple sending Wrexham 50 boxes of biscuits.
Live from Wembley Stadium!

Spoiled Milk!
(shoutout to the Milk Sisters…the club hasn’t been the same without you.
Musical Theater Moves
Broadway shows were able to return this week, 18 months after going dark when COVID hit. Everyone has been understandably emotional about it all.
Disney’s Frozen is treading those West End Boards again, as is the Back to the Future musical. We’d like to see Hannah Waddingham and Brendan Hunt have respective cameos. And we should probably get some Doc Brown on our Ted Lasso Musical Theater Playlist. You can find what we have put together on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
Corner Kicks for the Soccer Curious
Canadian and Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies penned a great letter to the Paralympic Refugee team.
Check out how Thailand’s Paralympic soccer team trained for Tokyo
Thanks for checking out our Newsletter! We always love to hear from folks so feel free to hit us up. Until next time, Cheers
